We want to know God, be like Him, and share His love with others.

In 1792, when George Washington was president of fourteen new United States, a number of farming families joined to worship in Virginia's Campbell County and took the name of the nearby Falling River. Considering the many drastic changes our world has seen since then, one thing has kept Falling River Baptist Church not only surviving, but thriving: our shared passion to know Christ, be like Him, and share Him with others!  This desire is expressed through many ministries in our church family, community, and world.

Associations & Beliefs

Falling River Baptist Church voluntarily partners with many Christians in our mission. After all, we can accomplish more together than we can by ourselves! The following associations are particularly important to us:

Our beliefs align with the Baptist Faith & Message (linked below), as well as the following statements:

We believe that the Holy Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, form the foundation of the Church’s belief. The authority of the Bible is best described in 2 Timothy 3:15-17. All Scripture is the direct and true special revelation of God. It can be trusted as an accurate testimony to us, “for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction…(KJV).” God’s written word is rightly understood through knowing and believing “The Word” - - our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:18; Hebrews 1:1-2).

We believe that the Lord is one. He created all that is, and all is sustained by His power. He has revealed Himself in three persons: The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Mark 12:29; Acts 17:24-28; Matthew 28:19; I Peter 1:2; Romans 8:11

We believe that all people have sinned by turning from God. This is humanity’s central Problem. No one can earn God’s grace with their own efforts. Romans 3:10,23; Ephesians 2:8-9

We believe that God loves His creatures so much that He sent His only Son into the world among us. In Jesus Christ, God became a man, and showed us who He is. In His love and obedience to the Father, Jesus took on the form of a servant. Jesus was put to death on the cross for our sins. We believe that Christ died for us, His body was laid in a tomb, and His Father raised Him from the dead on the third day. By putting our faith in Christ’s sacrifice for us, we are forgiven by God of our own sin. By putting our faith in His resurrection from the dead, we are assured that we too will be raised to glory at Christ’s return. Those who truly believe in Christ are not only saved by Him, but they also follow Him as Lord of their lives. By Christ, God’s Holy Spirit comes to live in every believer, guiding, sanctifying, and transforming us. John 1:1,14; 3:16; Philippians 2:5-11; Romans 5:8; 8:8-13, I Corinthians 6:17,19

We believe that until He comes to judge the living and the dead, Christ is working in the world through His body: the Church. The Church is made up of all people who have placed their faith in Christ’s sacrifice for the forgiveness of sins, and have accepted His Lordship over their lives. The Father sends His Spirit to work in us in carrying out our great mission: “…go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:19-20, New Living Translation).” 2 Timothy 4:1; 1 Corinthians 12:27: Acts 2:37-47
